The new containers with electronic access control systems were installed in different neighborhoods of Lleida. A measure that generated an increase in the median recycling rate reaching 70%. To make use of these containers, users have an identification card that allows them to open the container, which also weighs the volume of waste. In this way, the system can apply discounts to the garbage rate for participation in selective collection, accounting for the contributions generated by each household.
